Loop at Jordan Creek
30 May 2015I haven’t been out on the Beta for a few months, so I went for a short ride staged from Jordan Creek.
This trail (part of Firefox) used to go up a steep hill in the trees, but most of this hill was logged last year. Suddenly there are some great views from the top.
If the haze wasn’t out there, we’d see the ocean beyond Tillamook (Tillamook was visible in that “V”, but the iPhone camera isn’t good for distance).
Here’s about 180 degrees of view.
I found a new trail that winds back and forth across the hill above Stick In the Nose trail. This one seems like you might be able to go up, unlike the down-only trail I’ve been on before. Then I followed Stick In the Nose down to Jordan Creek, Jordan Creek up to the road, road to the top of the hill, then Archers back toward the highway.
I found a trail that initially looked like it would go west off of Archers, but it wound north and then turned east. It did take me to these flags.
They surround a memorial plaque for Frank M. Dionne.
Seems like a good place and a nice way to be remembered.
The trail continued off to the north and east, but the memorial is near a road that leads back up to Archers. Archers took me to the new trail that drops down toward the first bridge over Jordan Creek.
Managed to keep moving for almost two hours – that was enough to wear me out and put blisters on my hands.
